An Introduction to a Belt Conveyor

A belt conveyor is a mechanical device, driven by friction to transport materials continuously. It can be used to form a material conveying process from the feed point to the emptying point on a certain conveyor line. And it can be an ideal choice for conveying broken materials as well as finished products. In addition to pure material conveying, the belt conveyor can also be matched with the requirements of production process of various industrial enterprises to form a rhythmic progressive assembly line.
Belt Conveyors

Belt conveyors have been widely used in wharf, coal mine, metallurgy, grain, paper and other industries. The driving drum is the key component of the belt conveyor, and its function is to transmit the torque provided by the driving device to the conveyor belt, and use the static friction of the belt to convey materials.

Because of its reliable operation, belt conveyors are used in many important production units that need continuous operation, such as coal conveying in power plants, bulk materials conveying in steel plants and cement plants, and loading and unloading of ships in ports.

A belt conveyor is widely used in metallurgy, coal, transportation, hydropower, chemical industry, etc. This is down to its advantages of large conveying capacity, simple structure, easy maintenance, low cost and strong universality. Belt conveyors are also used in building materials, electric power, light industry, grain, ports, ships and other industries. There are some main issues in belt conveyors, such as deviation, material spillage, belt slipping, shaft breaking of reducers, which need shock absorption, tension fluctuation reduction and slip protection.

Main types of Conveyor Belts:
1. Ordinary conveyor belts: They are made from cotton canvas, vinylon cotton, TC (Terylene Cotton) and interwoven impregnated canvas through calendering, molding and vulcanization.
2. Endless conveyor belts: The endless conveyor belt is divided into two types: strong type and ordinary type.
3. Skirt endless conveyor belts: Materials spillages are not easy to occur with skirts on both sides.
4. Heat-resistant conveyor belts.
5. Cold resistant conveyor belts.
6. Corrugated sidewall conveyor belts.
7. PVG, PVC whole core flame retardant conveyor belts.
8. Steel wire rope core conveyor belts.
9. Polyester spiral whole core conveyor belts.
