RUNMA automation have extended the range of high speed take out robots primarily used in the packaging industry. The high speed robots will run at high speed on injection molding machines from 80 tons to 500 tons. These robots can achieve take out times of 4 seconds and an overall cycle time of 5 seconds, suitable for most packaging applications like thin wall. It led to three key areas for change and improvement:
Lighter Weight
We discovered new ways to reduce unnecessary weight while maintaining same functions. We reduced nearly 15% weight of the machine, most importantly on the moving parts allowing for high speeds with smaller motors giving a greater energy reduction and lower running costs.
Lower Profile
The wrist area of the robot lies at the extremity of the arm and must enter the mould during take out. Any bulk removed here allows the mould opening to be reduced, saving valuable time on each cycle. We managed to create a comparable wrist that is an incredible 38% slimmer, allowing mould openings to be a vital 41mm narrower over a standard robot.
Vibration Control
Vibration is a particular hindrance to high speed operation because time delays must be programmed in to allow settlement. Our engineers designed a radically new Vibration Control Technology and also created a new carbon fiber reinforced plastic arm that promotes superior vibration dampening.
We have also included our groundbreaking ECO vacuum system which reduces air consumption by up to 75% over the previous model, even better we now can monitor the energy use and air consumption in real time.
